Turkeys FLY!!!!
BallHype: hype it up!

Please note that next Thursday there will be no turkeys…instead it will be on Wednesday. This week in our undeniable quest to find turkeys everywhere…we went with two teams and one player. Do not worry this is not something gross like two girls one cup or anything like that. But the turkeys felt it was wise to give out two awards to teams this week both in the Atlantic Division that have played like turkeys in the last 6-8 weeks.

Now I present to you our three turkeys for this week. May god have mercy on their souls because they will most certainly need it.

These Three Turkeys

New York Rangers (Team Award)

Yes the first one of our team awards goes to the worst team since November 1st. Remember when they won 7 straight games? Well they have lost 15 in regulation since. OUCH! Henrik Lundqvist has 13 losses and yet has a .920 save percentage. That is not justice. For a team that needed to win last night…3 shots on goal in the first period at home was not the way to come out. Yes the final score was 2-1 but really had it not been for Lundqvist it would have been more. It was nice to see a 60 minute effort from one player but you need all 23. Coach Torts has a problem and its more than just the players…its the entire organizational structure. For that reason alone, they are the top turkeys this week.

Philadelphia Flyers (Team Award)

Another below .500 team who fired their coach but to no real success as the Flyers still have no heart and no balls. With the talent they have, if you told me they would not be close to the Atlantic league at this point…I would have laughed. No one is laughing in Philly now. The low point (at least we think) came Tuesday in a 6-1 loss in Pittsburgh where the Flyers could not even win the scorecard in the boxing department. With guys like Pronger, Carter, and Richards…you never expected this team to look so lifeless. But against New Jersey and Pittsburgh they looked flat DEAD! This cannot be on the coach…this is on the players. If they do not search deep and quick…they will continue to be turkeys and kill fantasy hopes for weeks and maybe months on end. Did I mention how well that Emery experiment worked? Sure he is hurt but he has killed fantasy owners as well.

Tim Thomas (G) — Boston Bruins

This may not be fair but he has not been all that well since signing that big $$ deal in the offseason. He has been outplayed by Tuukka Rask all season and played pretty well against Philly but still lost. He looked awful in his other two starts, particularly against the Canadiens, who are not world beaters by any stretch. The problem is he lunges out from the net too much and does not stay in position. I said it in the playoffs and I will say it again. Teams learn your tendencies and they are not stupid. Now those teams are exploiting that weakness and that is why Thomas at 7-8-4 is more the 1B in Boston as opposed to the starter. How far have the mighty fallen.

Next Wednesday we will have a special Christmas Turkey Edition. Until then, watch out for those turkeys NHL players…they have their eyes set on you on behalf of fantasy owners EVERYWHERE!!
