Sometimes it is said that you just need to shake off a rut. Last week was such a case even if it was a bit unfair. I was the victim of a 3 day fantasy week. Not much I could do…the schedule just did not play out and I really could not get enough players into the lineup. The best thing to do is just to chalk it up and hope you do not get killed too badly.
Inevitably there had to be a sort of sacrificial lamb. So was it any real surprise when I won 8-2-1 this week? No not really. Poor Team Felix had no prayer and actually he had a pretty good week. Time to take a look at some numbers.

We will be going next level with matchups throughout the season. Notice the numbers were mostly quite close…except for maybe goaltending where the GAA and save % were a bit safer margin. Goals and Power Play Goals were also a bigger margin as Ryan Smyth scored 4 times this week….that helped! Player of the week award goes to a fellow King actually. Congrats to Jon Quick who won all three starts while posting respectable numbers. The 2.67 GAA and .909 save percentage was not all that great but help from Pekka Rinne and a 41 save performance in defeat was enough. Memo to Trotz…give him back the job already.
Seriously the first few weeks are like this….lots of ups and downs and change. The key is to be able to weather the storm via injuries and bad play. Next week we will take a look at another matchup and also add in some studs, duds, and trolls as we dig more into the numbers so you can put together a better fantasy team. I will say this real quick….look out for Colin Wilson…his debut is getting closer.
