Fantasy Hockey 101: Quick Hitters

BallHype: hype it up!

Many apologies but this week will be quick and brief. There are often a list of things to remember your fantasy team but please and I mean please by all means slap the author here across the head for not remembering the one basic adage that he has preached since the start of this Fantasy Hockey 101 column almost two years ago.

CHECK YOUR LINEUP EVERYDAY!!!!!

God its so simple that anyone can remember this or get someone to do it. However, yours truly, was guilty twice of forgetting last week and it really cost me dearly. As a result I lost about 8 goals and 12 assists from those two big days and likely lost me a week I could have been more competitive in and maybe won. Instead I got drubbed 8-1 like a little stepchild waiting for his whoopin.

The message is simple but when I do not do it…I feel more like a moron than most since in just about every league…its the very first thing I do. But not to do it in my own podcast league just makes it that much worse. Truthfully I am more embarrassed but its worse that I caught it myself.

The lesson this week is quite simple. Learn to take your humble pie when it is served to you. It is great when you win and everything else but when you lose and lose badly because of your own stupidity…the only person to blame is really yourself. Remember that always. Congrats to the Moose Jaw Marauders and next week I will simply strive to make my team better because at the very least…maybe they will get healthier.

In all seriousness, just remember to set your rosters everyday and take the loss like a gracious loser instead of a sore one. It does not mean you privately want to kick things and throw stuff…just make sure no one else sees it. Next week we will be back with more on the Christmas Roster Freeze and even more than that. Aloha.

Sincerely,
