Dear Versus (An Open Letter From Devils Fans)

BallHype: hype it up!

Dear Versus:

We humbly ask for the network to please blackout all Devils games that will be on your network for the rest of the season in the efforts of achieving a social experiment on why the Devils cannot win on your network. I understand personally that it would cause a loss of money for your channel but honestly the Devils get more of a viewership on MSG+ anyhow.

It has also come to my attention that Versus really would prefer superstars and big markets anyhow. New York, Pittsburgh, Washington, Detroit, and others would actually benefit by the potential of an extra game. And besides, your network has bumped the Devils a few times in the past for such quests as Ovechkin’s chase for 60 and some JR guy chasing 500.

Now to the meat of the argument. The 2-10-1 record over the last 1+ seasons is a sign that the Devils clearly are not interested in this channel. Their record is much better off Versus as evidenced by this year. 14-3 off Versus and 0-2 on. Yes I understand both losses this year were by identical 3-2 scores but the Devils really were not in either game to a point in the third period. It was like they quit and could not wait to get back on MSG+.

Further proof was last year in the playoffs when Versus cut to the Devils and Hurricanes late in Game 7. The Devils looked poised for victory when Eric Staal snatched it away along with that Jokinen guy. Why Versus why? Why do you torment Devils fans so? We were doing just fine not being covered that series as opposed to the red carpet treatment. Oh that blasted video…..ugh!

Shock At The Rock……

Now it is sad that Devils fans had to suffer like this. We ask you to kindly black our games out so that the Devils win the division and in the playoffs…do not show us there either. We are better off without your network and Keith Jones not having the balls to give Martin Brodeur a star on his 500th victory. In order to secure a good finish and deep playoff run…please respect our wishes so we do not have to see videos like this made again this year.

Again we do apologize for the controversy this may cause. This is a radical proposal in a letter that may appear very far fetched but when you dig deeper into it…you will find that the Devils have extremely bad luck on your network. I won’t even get into two years ago but that is for another letter. Just let us be and the Devils and their fans will be much happier knowing that they have a better shot at winning.

This is because when the Devils are on Versus…fans can almost count on it being a loss already. I almost forgot 1 win was from a goalie who is not here anymore and the other was because of a fluke goal in overtime. There is no dominance for a team who gets outscored by 12 goals on this network in the last year. Death be not proud Versus…just give us an early parole from your network and either not schedule us at all or just do it once like you do with teams from Nashville or Minnesota. Trust us we would not mind at this point.

Sincerely,

New Jersey Devils Fans
