KHL Salutes Top Players from Week 1
The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) will once again recognize the top goalie, defender, forward and rookie each week during the season. Selection will be conducted by the KHL Statistics and Information Bureau and will be based upon both statistical results and overall performance.
Week 1 honorees are:
- Best goalkeeper: Robert Esche (SKA St. Petersburg). Esche recorded a shutout on the opening weekend, recording 26 saves.
- Best defender: Miroslav Blatyak (Salavat Yulaev). Blatyak scored a goal and finished with a +3 rating in one game
- Best forward: Denis Parshin (CSKA Moscow). In two games Parshin scored three goals.
- Best rookie: Andrei Gavrilov (Vityaz Chekhov). Gavrilov backstopped Vityaz to two wins, posting a 1.5 GAA and 94% save percentage.
