While the Oilers win their last five of seven games, including one Sunday night against the Thrashers 5-1, The Atlanta hockey club is struggling to stay on top and some say are coming out and playing pretty flat. Thrashers forward Ilya Kovalchuk had made a comment after the game that “it makes us really strong playing back to back games, we had the lead then all of a sudden we stop playin and I dont know why.” On Tuesday the Thrashers will try to come back with a win against Calgary at 9pm.
I think that the Thrashers are just having a hard time right now getting it together obviously, Ilya Kovalchuk had given out five shots, but it doesn’t seem like the entire team is all there you know. They come out (Thrashers) take the lead and then after losing it the team just seems to fall apart, and continue the game playing flat and having a bad D allowing multiple goals come into their net that Lehtonen does not stop. Even though Im sure Kari is giving an all out effort.
You have to look at certian factors here though when it comes to the way Thrashers having been playing and when they lose their game, playin back to back games is hard, but not impossible, the team’s confidence level I am sure is way down and on top of that they are tired, worn out, and in a sense need a break. I still believe in Blueland!
On The Thrashers aquiring Eric Belanger from the Nashville Predators
it was an exchange for defenseman Vitaly Vishnevski (love the cool name) Belanger, 29 had been playin with Carolina all season, before being traded to Nashville on Friday. He has played in 379 NHL games has a record of 170 points (71 goals 99 assists). Pretty impressive record Id say, especially having 30 consecutive goals in three NHL Seasons!!!! right on. I think that he will do great for The Thrashers hockey club, between him and Ilya (and of course the other players that need to pick it up a notch.) we can still stay in this race!
