The Fab 4: Boston Vs. Toronto….

Sometimes the cider tastes better than the game. It happens! Damned over at The NHL Arena…came up with this week’s game of the week…..Boston @ Toronto. That is just how the cookie crumbles with the sport of hockey. Without further adieu….here are the four ciders in what was a very hard game to gauge.

4th cider — Jason Blake (LW) — Toronto

Well you know what….he scored a goal which in this game was saying something. The 4 shots on goal led the team. In a game where offense was at a premium and most scoring chances were from the outside…he was one of the only Toronto players other than maybe Sundin that could get inside Boston’s D.

3rd cider — Chuck Kobasew (RW) — Boston

All Kobasew does is score goals!!! Really 12 of his 16 points are goals! And the power play goal he scored was huge as it tied the game right after Toronto scored. It was a real momentum killer in the game…who knew that it really killed the MOMENTUM in the game as it seemed both teams didn’t play with the same kind of urgency as they did in the first 13:00 of the game.

2nd cider — Zdeno Chara (D) — Boston

He had 30:49 of ice time…which is safe to say he was an integral part of the Boston game as he always is. His +6 overall this year has to be somewhat credited to the playing style Claude Julien has put in place. However, he was every bit the shutdown defenseman Boston paid him to be last night as Sundin was pretty much held down to next to nothing and he essentially helped bottle up the game. That is how Boston has to win….hard work…and timely scoring. Chara helped lead them to that.

1st cider — Alex Auld (G) — Boston

What more can be said really…..new team…haven’t played in the NHL in a bit…and bam! A solid 25 save performance for Auld. He did get kind of overshadowed a bit because of Toronto’s winning streak and not many expected him to start. I am sure when Toronto fans saw this…and only Leaf fans could say this…that they knew it was a loss. Auld made a key save on Sundin and stopped another good chance by Blake in the third…those were the only two times he had to be more than good but it was effective…hence my 1st cider goes to him!

Well now winter has come to Yucca Valley….it is time to get ready for some hockey!! Go Devs!!
