Stars in the Offseason

Too many fans are saying that the Stars have no offense, need a complete overhaul, get rid of name players and go young. I think these are all good points but one thing is if the Stars do a complete overhaul then don’t expect them to be a contender for the Stanley Cup for the next few season. Do I think that we have wholes on the team but of course. Do I think that some of the pickups we had at the beginning of last season were a waste. I would have to answer yes to that question as well. So far the Stars have signed Cris Barch and Stu Barnes for the next season. Left to sign if they are going to is Ladislav Nagy, Eric Lindros, Patrick Stefan, Matthew Barnaby and Jon Klemm.

Ok lets take these guys one by one:

Ladislav Nagy- he was the Coyotes leading scorer until he was traded in Feburary to the Stars. For the Coyotes he had 41 points (eight Goals and 33 assists) in 55 games that is .75 points a game. For the Stars he had 4 goals 10 assists in 25 games that is .56 points a game.

Eric Lindros- Played 49 games and had 5 goals, 21 assists for a total of 26 points which would be .53 points per game. Most of the season he was out on injury.

Patrick Stefan – Played 41 games and had 5 goals 6 assists for a total of 11 points which would be .27 a game. Missed open net goal against Edmonton, in which cost them the game in regulation.

Matthew Barnaby- Played in 39 games and had 1 goal and 6 assists for a total of 7 points which would be . He had 127 penalty minutes but his season was cut short due to a serious concussion that cost him to not be able to fight anymore.

Jon Klemm- Played in 38 games and had 1 goal and 3 assists for a total of 4 points which would be .11 a game. the best part about Klemm is he is gritty when he plays and he never gives up.

So who should the Stars resign. I think they should resign Nagy because I think he can be an offensive threat like he was for the Coyotes and will help next season. Also I think they should resign Jon Klemm because of his grittyness. Barnaby, Lindros, and Stefan I would go ahead and let them go and use the money to fill in the holes that the Stars need in offense. The rest of the core I would keep the same we have alot of young players in Iowa who will be able to fill in most of those holes but they could use a couple more powerhouses to go with them.
