Lightning President Arrested For DUI

According to The Tampa Tribune Tampa Bay Lightning team president Ron Campbell was arrested over the weekend for driving under the influence.

Campbell, 51, was pulled over by Tampa Police at 1:10 a.m. Saturday on Dale Mabry Highway where he refused a Breathalyzer test, according to the police report. He was released on $500 bail at 9:24 a.m.

“This experience is very humbling and embarrassing for me, but more importantly for my family and the organization,” Campbell said in a statement through a team spokesman. “Because of that I’m very apologetic and remorseful.”

No other arrest records showed up in a search of the five previous years.

Campbell has served as Lightning president since 1999. He has helped oversee the Lightning’s rise from a cellar dweller into a stable orginization, including winning the 2004 Stanley Cup.
