Interview With The Hitman

Name, and oh yeah we know who you are….but state it anyway with a picture too!

LeaferSutherland. Commissioner of the LSHL. Hitman extraordinaire.

Awww…aren’t they cute?

What exactly is Crackdale and how is it you got involved with it?

Crackdale is the affectionate nickname of a neighborhood I once lived in. Parkdale.

When I could not get along or agree musically with past bandmates, I decided to try a solo run, changing from bass guitar to electric, while dabbling in the mixing side as well.

Since my sound was rather raunchy and my lyrics focused a lot on society, I thought the name ‘Crackdale’ fit my project quite nicely.

If the Leafs actually somehow manage to win the Cup during your lifetime how would you celebrate?

I suppose a trip down to Yonge Street would be in order, however I am not fond of crowds really. Nor do I tend to get along with other ‘Leaf fans’ in general.

Perhaps I would instead stay at home, with a case of beer and hit the Arena up, so that I could remind you how superior my hypothetical cup winning team was.

What sport would you be into if Hockey did not exist?

I used to be a big Baseball fan, but dropped the sport almost entire after the infamous strike. And I do not see myself giving a damn about it again, unless it wised up and placed a salary cap as well as revenue sharing among teams.

Other than that, I am an avid paved and dirt racing fan, more interested in the weak local circuits rather than NASCAR and the World of Outlaws. TV just doesn’t do the sport justice if you ask me.

Which would you rather choose: a recording contract (he’s a musician for those of you that don’t know yet), OR, the ability to own the largest hockey forum in the world (along with that would come money, fame etc etc)?

As much as I enjoyed creating music or playing at the bars, hockey is where my heart is. And considering the success the Arena has had in it’s short time, I am quite proud to be a part of this board. I have already met (online) many great people I wouldn’t have if not for this site, and I expect to meet many more in the near future.

You really can’t ask for more than a sense of community.

Exactly how deep is your love for the Minnesota Wild? It’s been noticed around the arena that you have a secret crush on them or that you might be a closet fan.

Well Patty, let me tell you…

I was quite thrilled upon learning that Minnesota was getting back in the mix. I remember the days of Neal Broten, Brian Bellows, Willie Plett and Mark Tinordi, back in the day. And for some reason, the North Stars weren’t nearly as hated as our other former Norris Division rivals. Also, the decision to bring in Jacques Lemaire – one of my favorite coaches of all time – keeps me pushing for the Wild to make some noise in the League.
What would you do if you found out, that due to financial situations unknown to the world, the Toronto Maple Leafs were sold and became the NHL’s first Mexican based team?

What makes a man create his own forum for hockey buffs, with a desire to treat everyone as equal and yet think of himself as “the hitman”?

In my defense, I didn’t coin the phrase ‘Hitman’. But I’ll admit, I do get a kick out of it.

It sure beats getting called ‘Peaches’ all day long.

Why did you decide to make an NHL message board in the first place when they are millions of them all over the net?

Though there might be many NHL related forums to choose from, I simply could not find one that suited my tastes.

I used to belong to a large and long standing forum in the past. And ironically enough, I probably broke every rule we have here currently, at one time or another. Due to some of my controversial opinions as well a penchant for not necessarily being a ‘Leafs first’ type of guy, I became somewhat of an outcast. And considering that I have somewhat of a colorful vocabulary, I threw barb for barb. But after a while, it seemed ‘LS’ became a bigger topic than many of the threads I was posting in and that grew very tiresome.

I might have still been a part of that board today if the staff didn’t choose to have a coup on the Admin that gained a reputation for not caring for his site.

TO make a long story short, the site fragmented into 4 others, all of which I eventually questioned the leadership and direction, which brought me to this creation.

What is the one thing you regret as commish of this forum?

Initially I wanted no part of actually administrating this site. I felt that it would take too much time away from me simply posting about league related events, as well as getting to know members on a one to one basis. And since I was kind of thrown back into this position, my thoughts have proven true.

When having to look over all the aspects of this place, as well as promoting it elsewhere, I must keep my posts in moderation as well as my interaction with other members via PM or what have you. Although it is becoming easier each passing day as more and more of you are stepping in to help out.

Now I am quite proud to be Commish, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Finally, if you were a hockey player…who would you be and why?

I would be William Wisson, the greatest Leaf since Wendel himself. I’d wear my heart on my sleeve and although I might not be the most refined player to have ever worn skates, I would dedicate my career to the hockey fan. No nights off, no mundane interviews and no excuses. I would be known as the ‘Entertainer’.

Thanks for taking part in this interview…the surprise will be revealed later.

The surprise is simply this….I did not ask you one single question….the questions did indeed all come from the execs and GM’s…and without their help….this interview would have not been possible.
