Goodbye CAA……

This post is from DevilsFan4Life on Myspace…..this is for any fan who had to say goodbye to the old arena.

I was at the last game of the regular season ever at CAA 2 nights ago. It was saddening for me because I grew up here. So many Devils fans I know are willing to so easily forget about where the Devils won 2 cups, Marty Brodeur had countless moments. He even scored both his NHL goals there.

Just to think of some of the moments we all shared there. Randy Mckay scoring an OT thriller in 95 against Boston and Randy climbing the glass? The absolute destruction of the Red Wings in the 2 games of the 95 finals? The complete ownership of the flyers all those years? Coming back from down 3-1 in 00 against Philly? Wining the cup in 7 thrilling games against Anaheim in 03? Sweeping the Raggers last year in the playoffs?I am of course only naming a few of the many moments.

To me, CAA aka Brendan Byrne Arena, will always be my home away from home. I am absolutely sure we will have many more great times in Prudential. Its great to think that the Metro area of NY/NJ will have a new arena and 2 new stadiums over the next 3 years. The excitement is definatly there. Being that I live 2 hours from CAA unlike the 15 minutes I used to live from it a few years ago. I am not sure how many playoffs games I will be at. Game 5 against Tampa will be my next it looks like. I just feel we need to look back and see this place for what it was to all of us. Fuck security, fuck the impolite staff. We as Devils fans found a way to have fun. The tailgating is something I will miss a lot. Had some of my bets moments doing that ritual. Please feel free to message me and lets talk about the Devils and CAA and what it meant to you as a fan.

In the words of Jake Taylor(the catcher in Major League the movie)

“There only one thing left to do…Win the whole fucking thing!”(One more time)
