Some teams are taking a stand against overpaying in free agency….Carolina, Buffalo, New Jersey…just to name a few have said they will not pay exorbitant salaries for players who clearly do not deserve it. That being said enough teams will. There are definitely enough owners who have pre-set caps in mind that there could be a looming case of the have’s and the have nots come the next CBA.

Souray and Comrie are two of the more prized UFA’s still out there and they could both be signed as early as today. They will more than likely go elsewhere as Souray has rejected the Habs final offer…and Comrie appears ready to bid adieu to Ottawa though Ottawa is still in the running and has some money to burn. Buffalo is expected to offer an extension to Vanek in the coming weeks. The Islanders however may make a mini splash and try to sign some UFA’s today or tomorrow but Snow has been mum from the beginning ever since losing Smyth and Blake.

As always stay tuned to The NHL Arena for the latest of the UFA frenzy.
