Battle of California Trilogy And Quick Hitters…

The Sharks and Ducks battle tonight for the 2nd time this week. The 3rd time will take place later in the week. I wanted to thank the Battle of California for their gameday. This is more than likely the game of the night. So if you are on the East Coast and up a little late…why not check it out! Not often you see all this offense battle and then a Giguere Vs. Nabokov matchup….all in all makes for some quality hockey television. For those going to see it in person…..enjoy this one.

There is also the grandest goalie matchup between Roberto Luongo and Martin Brodeur. Anyone who gets the pleasure to see this one should just sit back, smile, and enjoy. So grab a cold one and take a look at two future Hall of Famers at their quite possibly finest. Brodeur comes in with a 2.26 GAA and Luongo comes in with a 2.12 GAA. They have both posted some impressive numbers in the last 5-6 weeks…and well can this thing get started already?

Finally, back to the trilogy….there was an interesting side bit. Niedermayer and Weight didn’t do quite so well. However, Andy McDonald had a goal and an assist in his debut as a Blue in a 5-3 loss to the Flames. I still think the Blues got the better end of this deal. Weight has a year or two tops and I still think Niedermayer will be gone at the end of the season or next. McDonald will give the Blues a quality player for at least a good five years.

Some quick hits….Martin Brodeur has finally taken the All-Star voting lead for the goalies. Chris Simon has met with Colin Campbell but no word on length of suspension yet. Also, the Pens and Rangers face off tonight in a battle of teams who have considerably underachieved so far this season. Good fight…good night!
