About Us

This blog started out January 15th, 2007 as a little known almost-extension of The NHL Arena forum. The NHL Arena Program got its “legs” in the blogging industry. Really it was just a bunch of guys talking about what they were passionate about as far as hockey. There were several writers back then including the Commissioner of our forum. It took us awhile to really get this going and when I inherited the blog itself…it was honestly a mess. From July of 2007 to July of 2008…we slowly moved the blog forward as we added writers, and better content. Then things took a big jump.

That is when Blog Talk Radio stepped in…when our podcast debuted July 27th of last year…we had no idea what it would do for this blog. A few short months later, we were adding more quality writers as well as partnerships with some of the leading NHL bloggers in the industry. The blog itself set up our highlight as an entity on October 3rd, 2008….when we were able to sit down for a half hour exclusive interview with Ted Leonsis on his thoughts for the 2008-2009 Washington Capitals season. Without the blog…that podcast does not happen.

That same week we split off from The NHL Arena and we do thank them for all their help. We moved onward as we brought on Ryan Porth from the Red Light District and several guest bloggers along the way. I have met so many good friends from this blog and the other writers on our site are some of the best out there. Without guys like Rick, Kevin, Bob, Mike, Paul, Dan, Nathan, and Brad…this blog would most certainly have died off like so many have. We have also added a facebook fan page that you can add on by clicking here.

I am forever grateful to them. So as now we transition into a new beginning at The Program…we want to thank everyone that has put the time and effort into what its become as well as into what it will become. Again if you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to contact us and by all means enjoy a blog that hits hard and never pulls any punches! Thank you so much.

About Chris Wassel

Simply I am a sports writer whose first loves will always be hockey and food. As we attempt to fix the site which has fallen into some disrepair (okay a lot), any and all help is always appreciated. For now, everything will channel through on a post by post basis. As always, let's have some fun!
