On The Mend; On The Block

It turns out the Leafs are expecting Ponikarovsky and Antropov back tomorrow night to help fill out a roster that was handed a hefty defeat from the Vancouver Canucks Saturday evening.

Early reports have Ponikarovsky taking over Alex Steen’s position on the top line, however Steen is fighting a virus in a motel room somewhere and the practice lines might not be an indication of where these players will be slotted.

As for Antropov, the team isn’t so focused on which line to play him on, but instead; which seat he will be taking on the bench. Preferably the one nearest the dressing room, should something else break.

Word also has it that Darcy Tucker will be returning later in the week and I suppose a Florida trip will cure ‘what ails ya’, just enough to get you on the plane. Of course, all except for the mysteriously injured Wellwood conspiracy.

Personally, I’d play these guys on one line. Our top line. For almost 20 minutes a game. Come trade deadline day, we should consider ourselves sellers. And with enough showcasing between now and then, we just might fool someone into thinking we actually had something decent to sell.
