Every year, this is something we do for the injured or dearly fallen. Some of these players may or may not be All-Stars but they have had an impact on their current teams because they are missing from the lineup. It wasn’t the easiest of lists to come up with this year because actually the amount of long term injuries were a little off from previous year. However, we have cooked up enough to come up with something deemed worthy.
Keep in mind, that they did not have to be out the entire first half but were at least either out for significant parts or seemed to be frequently injured.
Anyway, here is our first and second All-Star Injury Teams compliments of the Injury Ninja.
2016 Injured First Team All Stars
G — Carey Price (Montreal Canadiens)
D — Kris Letang (Pittsburgh Penguins)
D — T.J. Brodie (Calgary Flames)
F — Henrik Sedin (Vancouver Canucks)
F — Kyle Turris (Ottawa Senators)
F — Jaden Schwartz (St. Louis Blues)
2016 Injured Second Team “All Stars”
G — Jake Allen (St. Louis Blues)
D — James Wisniewski (Carolina Hurricanes)
D — Cam Fowler (Anaheim Ducks)
F — Connor Mc David (Edmonton Oilers)
F — Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (Edmonton Oilers)
F — Michael Cammalleri (New Jersey Devils)
There are surely others that we missed. However, some take a category of their own like Beau Bennett who has practically missed as many games as he has played in his entire NHL career. There have been significant injuries all over the place.
The other problem is so many goalies have been injured this year. Everyone from Sergei Bobrovsky to Marc-Andre Fleury has missed time. Even Braden Holtby had a bit of a dehydration scare. It seems no one is really all that safe.
Our question to you, the fans, is this. Who else should be on here? Should we expand this to truly include an all time all stars team of the injured? The floor is yours so let’s have it!
