The Saturday Edition of This Day In Hockey History comes at you with another gem from yesteryear. Today we have a bit of an old one as it seems we found out the day a guy transitioned from player to Coach. Then he would move on win a few Stanley Cups and make some bold statements in a big city that did not work so well. All in all, it has been a ride many have been envious of and still are today. Edmonton Oilers (of the WHA) named their ex-player Glen Sather as the team’s new head coach. He remained with the organization thru the end of the 1999-2000 NHL season.
