This is a bit different than the usual things we do but we are setting up for the trade deadline Monday at 3pm ET. Now what we are doing is very short and very brief but this is the kind of chatter we have been seeing from time to time on this grand thing called the internet. Remember nothing here is set in stone and is kind of just pooled around to give an idea of what is floating out there…..
Anyway here we go with some rumors on the mill…..
===============================================
Fantasy Rumor Mill:
Rick Nash, LW/RW, Columbus Blue Jackets — The question becomes where does he ultimately end up. What is known is that Nash has a list of teams he wants to go to and that list will be the same whether a trade happens now, in the summer, or whenever. Whether he goes ultimately to the Rangers, Sharks or a potential mystery team like even Nashville, the interesting part will be how Nash meshes for fantasy hockey purposes. The Nashville deal (credit to Dennis Bernstein) involves Nash going for Wilson, Ellis, Laakso, and probably a pick. The Rangers are believed to be giving up some picks and one of their top prospects (maybe even Tim Erixon). Erixon did get hurt tonight so that will be intriguing to see what plays out. San Jose packages have seemed to be lower in value as of the current moment with Tornto also lagging behind at this moment.
Paul Gaustad, C, Buffalo Sabres — It just seems that Detroit is dying for a penalty killing Center who can win some faceoffs. There are other options available potentially but we keep hearing Travis Moen is off the market (MTL) and Sami Pahlsson (CBJ) could garner some interest but it seems. Gaustad for a couple picks or a low level prospect and 2nd round pick looks likely and could help Gaustad gain a few extra fantasy opportunities. Time will tell and stay tuned.
James van Riemsdyk, F, Philadelphia Flyers — The rumors seem to swirl around this guy no matter what and his destination is unknown but seems more than likely at this point he stays with Philly unless there is an offer that knocks Paul Holmgren’s socks off. This is one of those just in case rumors that would send JVR to a West contender if it does happen. Something just tells us that this one is just not likely. Let’s sleep on this one until Monday.
Ryan Malone, W, Tampa Bay Lightning — It just seems if the right offer is made that Malone is going to go somewhere. The question is, with the latest rash of injuries, where? Yes the salary is high but for the right price Malone adds grit and some late season goal scoring ability which could help fantasy teams if he goes to the right destination.

There will be other situation to keep an eye on but for now those were the most pressing from today. Listen to the show tomorrow night for more rumors and maybe some trades as well. Let the speculation take over!
