This Day In Hockey History (2/12)

There are some moments that are just odd and then there is this one today on This Day In Hockey History.  Throughout the years, there have been some very bizarre endings to hockey games that just leave people scratching their heads.  Today, we give you a moment that truly just makes one shrug in absolute disbelief.  As always, we have a video and then the moment.  So here goes….

 

 

February 12, 2002


Michael Peca scored shorthanded with 8.7 seconds remaining in overtime, and Garth Snow recorded his 14th career shutout as the Islanders won 1-0 at Philadelphia. It was the 1st ever NHL game in which the only goal was scored shorthanded in OT.

This Day In Hockey History (2/12)

On a cold, frosty morning, we bring you breakfast and another edition of This Day.  Today we focus on an event from 2003 that is interesting even for the supposed dead puck era as its been tabbed by many pundits.  Here is the moment.

 

 

February 12, 2003


Anaheim set an NHL record with their 10th consecutive one-goal victory, when Mike Leclerc scored 10 seconds into OT in a 4-3 win over the visiting Calgary Flames. They broke the record for 1-goal wins set by Ottawa in 1926-27.

Detroit’s Sergei Fedorov scored four goals (his second career hat trick) and missed on a penalty shot at 3:52 in overtime as the Red Wings tied 4-4 with the Kings, at Joe Louis Arena.
