Comeback rallies happen all the time but usually not capped by a hat trick. “This Day” has one of those moments. The early 90’s were still fairly a high flying time for the NHL where higher scores were common on a night to night basis. Just think back to a time where goalies had to stand on their heads and there were actual 100 point scorers in the league. Okay here is today’s moment from 19 years ago and a little video to go along with it.
December 27, 1992
Rookie Alexei Kovalev’s third goal of the game with 36 seconds left ended a four-goal rally in the final seven minutes and gave the Rangers a 6-5 win over Boston in New York. It was Kovalev’s first NHL hat trick.
