This Day In Hockey History (11/29)

In the days before Ken Dryden, there were other goalies in Montreal…honest.  Today is one of those moments.  This little gem happened 43 years ago today and literally talk about one elite goalie replacing another.  It is just no one quite knew it at the time.  Here comes a video first and then as always that frozen piece of time that we can look back on.

 

 

November 29, 1968


Montreal’s rookie goalie Tony Esposito made his first NHL appearance, coming in to relieve Rogie Vachon, in a 5-4 loss to the Golden Seals, at Oakland. Jean Beliveau scored two goals and two assists for the Canadiens.
