Fantasy Hockey ONE: The Big Oops!

Our apologies to those expecting a full column today as I would try to use the excuse the dog ate my homework but it just was not going to fly.  This is often what happens when you go to hit the save button and hit the close button accidentally.  Joomla does not allow you save your work as the draft is being crafted, so the failure was obvious.  Again, we offer a hopeful promise that it does not happen again for awhile.

In the meantime, we give you our Team Turkey for last night.  Our award goes to Henrik Zetterberg for his 14% Faceoff winning percentage, his -2 and very little offense generated as the Detroit Red Wings lost a sixth game in a row after starting the season 5-0.  We call that stunning in the business and still is a bit of a shock to the system.

It is an interesting six pack of games tonight and all eyes may just be on Dallas as Colorado can win on the road but not at home against a Dallas team who is very good at home with one of the best home and fantasy goalies period in Kari LehtonenMatt Duchene has been moved to LW with Peter Stastny and Milan Hejduk all on the same line so Coach Joe Sacco is trying to gather the eggs, put them mostly in one basket and hopes to get Duchene firing on all cylinders.  So far Duchene has been a little inconsistent but still worth starting tonight despite the low scoring expected.

Vancouver has a chance to get it together after a bad road beat at the hands of the Minnesota Wild.  The keys against St. Louis tonight will be the Sedin Twins and of course Roberto Luongo.  Luongo only gave up one goal in his last start but some said he was definitely shielded by not playing in Minnesota where he has been awful in the last calendar year or two.  There was something about a 6 or 7 GAA in the last couple starts as well.  Vancouver’s second line and particularly Ryan Kesler and Chris Higgins have been constant producers and should be considered tonight.

Also to be considered is Alex Ovechkin as he goes up against Carolina.  After the “benching” by Coach Bruce Boudreau, Ovechkin is going to want to take his frustrations out on someone and that may just be Cam Ward.  It will be an interesting night as these teams usually combine for a lot of goals.  One may want to take a look at Brandon Sutter from the Canes as well since he is taking Jussi Jokinen’s spot (injury).  Anything short of a 4-3 game would surprise me greatly so there are good fantasy options abound except for goaltending.

Chicago and Tampa Bay may just surprise people tonight….a lot are expecting this high scoring affair like Montreal versus Ottawa but both these games may just shock people a little.  Sure these four teams have not had the greatest team defense all year but the law of averages may just come together a bit tonight.  Adjust your fantasy options accordingly as this may be one of those nights.

Until tomorrow, good luck and we will dispense more fun knowledge and fantasy tweeting tonight as always!
