This Day In Hockey History (10/27)

This may not be much of a moment today but for Buffalo fans, they fell in love with this guy.  It is strange how a love affair with a player can start so quickly but if you mentioned this player’s name, there is a fond glow in a fan’s face.  Today, our moment comes to us from 20 years ago and a first game that left an impression.  The video comes first and then well that frozen in time gem.

 

 

October 27, 1991


Buffalo’s Pat LaFontaine scored a goal and added two assists in his first game as a Sabre, and Dale Hawerchuk had a goal and three assists to lead the Sabres to a 5-1 win over the visiting Hartford Whalers.

October 27, 1996

Florida’s Scott Mellanby scored his 200th NHL career goal as the Panthers extended their unbeaten streak to double figures (7-0-3) with a 3-2 win at Philadelphia.
