This Day In Hockey History (10/21)

Indeed it is time for another installment of This Day In Hockey History.  Today, we found a moment from classic days gone by like we always do.  Again we found an obscure moment for everyone as we sometimes do.  This is a first and well this franchise is in the USA now as opposed to Canada where they were originally located.  That should be enough hints so here is a video and then the moment like always.

 

 

October 21, 1979

Goran Hogosta became the first goaltender in Quebec Nordiques NHL history to record a shutout, in a 3-0 win at Chicago. It was the only career shutout for Hogosta.

This moment is kind of an oddball stat.  Stars do not always play together in Montreal contrary to popular thought but low and behold this one happened 22 years today.  Pretty crazy if you ask me.

 

 

October 21, 1988

After 2,283 NHL games and 1,245 goals between them, Guy Lafleur and Marcel Dionne each scored a goal as linemates for the first time, in the Rangers’ 4-1 win over Washington. It was Dionne’s first goal of the year, and the second for Lafleur.

Everyone loves to be first….

October 21, 1998

Daren Puppa recorded his 18th career shutout and the 1998 #1 overall draft pick Vincent Lecavalier recorded his first career NHL point (with an assist) as Tampa Bay won 5-0 against the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins.
