This Day In Hockey History (9/30)

Well an interesting course of history was chosen 14 years ago today when Mats Sundin of the Toronto Maple Leafs was named their captain.  He definitely was an iconic captain for them no question but he did see something that indeed was thought never to have existed.  The idea of the rule change below truly became a back to the future type of scenario a few years ago post lockout.  Who knew it had roots to an era so far back that the Great Depression was roaring along.  However this was indeed the case.  Sorry Mr. Banana Peel, this is not your moment, this is someone else’s.  Here is a video and the moment as always from a whopping 78 years ago on this day.
