This Day In Hockey History (9/28)

Again we give you a Hump Day edition of “This Day”.  Today we look at some curious waiver movements in hockey yesteryear.  For example, this is a time of year where certain teams just feed on the misery of others.  Let’s take a look at one of those such instances.  As always, we have the video first and then the moment from ten years ago today.

 

 

September 28, 2001


New York Islanders claimed goaltender Chris Osgood from Detroit during the annual NHL Waiver Draft. Other prominent players to move included Phil Housley (Calgary to Chicago) and Kirk Muller (Dallas to Columbus).

This Day In Hockey History (9/28)

This moment happened 31 years ago today.and to think all 21 teams passed on this guy because of fear of an old injury.  Sound familiar hockey fans?  It does occur quite a bit more than we think.

Minnesota North Stars signed free agent Dino Ciccarelli from the London Knights of the OHA. Ciccarelli fractured his leg in his final junior season and went undrafted by all 21 NHL teams.
