This Day In Hockey History (9/17)

“The Flower” was a legendary player no question and even for his first appearance, he made a grand entrance.  It seemed to be the norm rather than the exception for a player who really did have such an artistic flair.  He really was the type of player that could not only stand the test of time but he could almost play in any time as well.  Here is today’s moment from 40 years ago.

 

 

September 17, 1971


Montreal’s Guy Lafleur made his NHL debut, and picked up three assists in the Canadiens’ 7-4 exhibition game victory against the Bruins, at the Forum.

This Day In Hockey History (9/17)

Well today is a moment that Habs fans will even rejoice for.  Sure it is from 39 years ago but I am sure there are plenty of fond memories of this one.  The debut of “The Flower”.

OTR with Valeri Bure….

September 17, 1991


Montreal traded Andre Cassels to Hartford, in exchange for the Whalers’ second round draft pick in 1992. The Canadiens later used the pick to select Valeri Bure.
