This Day In Hockey History (9/9)

So trades do get amended all the time apparently.  Something we forget this until there is that classic look back into yesteryear.  However the Chicago Blackhawks and Oakland Seals completed a trade that needed to eventually be reworked a bit.  It is time to look back at a moment that happened 40 years ago today.  First, a little video and then the gem as always.

 

 

September 09, 1971


Chicago traded Gerry Desjardins to the Oakland Seals, along with Gerry Pinder and Kerry Bond, in exchange for goalie Gary Smith. Desjardins’ unhealing injury forced the Black Hawks to substitute Gilles Meloche and Paul Shmyr three weeks later.
