Trail Of “Tiers”: Defensive Prospecting

Well let’s stop some pucks. Thanks to Darryl Houston Smith for letting us use his lists to help the fantasy hockey fan in a quick and easy to digest way.  That is always the goal here at The Program.  We want you to process fast, make the decision, and be primed.  Darryl is not only a proud member of the PHWA (Professional Hockey Writers Association) but someone who will be frequently chipping in for us here at the site.

Here is the quick way of how we are going to do it.  This is our very cold version with an explanation coming Wednesday Night on the show.  Yes these are based off Darryl’s excellent lists which we have debated back and forth on probably for a good month or two.  One always has to love the banter.  We group the first fifteen prospects by the way.

Simply we enjoy doing tiers like this for fantasy leagues.  We will debate these a bit more on Wednesday’s show so take a listen.  Our best bet for fantasy success this year is Jhonas Enroth.  Based on his temperment and ability, he is a goalie most primed for fantasy success if Ryan Miller should get injured.  The other four goalies in our top tier have the talent but do not necessarily have the team in front of them to get the job done.

One other thing as a caveat for our fantasy owners is to keep an eye on the development of John Gibson.  He could be even better than Jack Campbell, who still has a lot of inconsistencies to work out despite his big game ability.  Coming up big only gets you so far on goaltending depth charts.  Consistently impressive results as opposed to flashes in the pan will put one on the rise.

Like we did say more analysis to come on the podcast Wednesday Night at 8pm only on Blog Talk Radio.  Hopefully you can listen on in via iTunes or BTR itself.  Now let the debate begin.
