This Day In Hockey History (9/1)

Today’s moment concentrates on a guy who moved up in the world but do not worry he moved back down and now one Cup later, is currently residing in Toronto during the NHL season.  Here is what we have for today with the video first as always….

 

 

September 01, 1993


Brian Burke resigned as the Hartford Whalers’ President and General Manager to join the NHL front office as Executive Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations. Paul Holmgren took over as Whalers’ GM.

Pittsburgh Penguins became the first club in pro sports history to be owned by a former member of the team, when Mario Lemieux assumed ownership of the Penguins.
