Trail Of “Tiers”: The Beginning Pt. 1

This is going to be something of an endeavor but we are going to try it anyway.  It has really gotten to the point where rankings have become too cumbersome.  Sure it is nice to have a number next to a name but how much is it really worth fantasy wise?

There will be standard categories as always but then there will also be those oddball categories that will leave you either scratching your heads or running to the waiver wire.  In Part 1 of our sort of mini blog series, we simply will leave a small introduction and then Part 2 will expound a bit on just how the heck we are coming up with this.

Again we thank many for this great idea.  The folks from The Daily Faceoff have been an immense help throughout this process and they probably do not even know it.  Our goal is to get you the information and for you to get the most out of it.  There is no need for drawn out explanations, just common sense, in your face commentary.  If you want “War And Peace”, go to one of those sites, if you want answers and spirited debate, then come to us.

Now our mini tiered system will be based on numbers but mostly numbers not of the standard deviation and CORSI kind.  We do not need those kind of numbers and in most cases, neither do you.  Points are not the only true measure of a man as far as fantasy hockey and everyone knows this.  Grouping players into certain tiers makes life easier for everyone.  We will then project where some of these players may go in your drafts later via the podcasts.

The goal is to gain a better understanding as well as a more interactive way of dealing with the fantasy hockey season.  It is not just enough to have a wealth of information, it really comes down to just how you use it.  If you times things just right, you are alright.  If you do not, you don’t do squat.  That is really the sweetest way to explain it.

This is why we are using a simplistic “tiered” system to give the fantasy hockey fan that fighting chance.  So they do not get overwhelmed or overloaded by all the information that is out there.  Think of it as a cheat sheet for the fantasy hockey mind.

Part 2 next week focuses in on just what we are doing and likely some of the categories that will get that “loving focus”.  Until then, debate away!
