This Day In Hockey History (8/8)

Yes we wanted to wish Ken Dryden a very happy birthday but that is not our moment today.  That may be surprising but we probably have done a few too many birthdays lately.  This one comes from a name that most older fans know immediately as soon as he is mentioned.  Simply Dave “Tiger” Williams was one of the fiercest customers in the NHL.  It was never quite the same when this moment happeneed 27 years ago today.  As always, more fantasy fun coming later but for now…..

Vancouver traded Tiger Williams to Detroit in exchange for left wing Rob McClanahan.

Free agent goalie Rogie Vachon of the Kings signed with Detroit. Dale McCourt was awarded to the Kings as compensation. Ultimately the Red Wings sent Andre St. Laurent and two future draft choices to L.A. in return for McCourt.
