Pick The Winner TGIF Edition

There comes a time when you can consciously sit there and stick to your guns.  It was a nice pleasant 5-1 night in the Thursday Night Pecos.  Seven games tonight in all for the people to sink their teeth into. This will not be an easy Friday Night.  Here is our dilemma.

With all the trade discussion and scuttlebutt, we did not do the usual required homework and research. Tougher aspects come down to how to get these picks right and by the way the one we got wrong was there was no way in Hades we could have known that Buffalo was going to shutout San Jose in San Jose last night.  There was just no way of predicting that one.

Think of the dog days of hockey betting like this.  Here is what we will try to do tonight.  Simply we are going to give you the BRIEF BRIEF BRIEF edition and then hopefully over the weekend we can play the detail game for everyone to enjoy and bask in the winning succulence.  Truculence is best reserved for Brian Burke.  As always you can check out the Blog Talk Radio show page for the latest odds or our handy dandy sports betting links on the left and right hand sides of the site.

Now our picks for tonight, Friday, January 7th.

  • Atlanta
  • Carolina
  • Dallas
  • Chicago
  • Detroit
  • Vancouver
  • Columbus

And there you have it.  Good luck tonight everyone and remember the key is to just know your limits. We cannot emphasize that enough.  See you tomorrow with more picks and some news from Mitch and Kevin who have been very good with us over the past several months.

Sincerely,

Chris Wassel

Pick The Winner TGIF Edition

After hitting at a 75% clip last night, we venture forth into the Friday Night schedule.  As always our betting lines are right HERE.  While we admittedly chow down on some fine Italian food, it is time to make some picks once again.

Come the first Saturday in January, we invite all comers to post their picks on the blog.  Winner gets bragging rights and the honor of kicking my can around the blogosphere.  This is for fun folks.  No one is getting paid for their endorsements but hopefully this can help the fans make some money.

So what is left but to choose these six games in the best way that we know how.  Below our picks tonight, we will spotlight one pick for a variety of reasons.

THE PROGRAM (Dec. 10th Picks)

  • Ottawa
  • Detroit
  • Atlanta
  • Carolina
  • Tampa Bay
  • Calgary

Yes we are going off the beaten path some but that is the fun part.  Now the world’s easiest explanation of one of our picks.

New Jersey will lose to Ottawa tonight.  Why?  Because the Devils will let even further off the gas now that Martin Brodeur is back.  Some have said this team could not get worse whereas I think he can. That is the sum of all fears at this point.  New Jersey comes in averaging an NHL worst 1.78 goals per game and although Ottawa is not exactly setting the world on fire, they can score a bit more.  The Devils are near or at the bottom in both PP chances and conversions so the Senators have little to worry about in that regard.

Ottawa will win simply if they show up and have a good effort.

So good luck everyone and post your picks on FB or twitter for everyone to see.

Pick The Winner TGIF EDITION!

We needed a new pair of shoes and got one last night with a 5-1 record that vaults us back to a 31-8 mark.  These six game nights are tough but we made the best of it as I believe Scotty Ferrall is still kicking our tail at over an 80% winning percentage.  The interesting thing is there are seven games tonight.

I would like it if people could make their picks on FB or Twitter as it would be fun to see what surprises they have in store besides my own.  Also a special thanks to betus.com once again for helping us out.

What to do?  What to do here?  There are many intriguing ways to go.

PICK TIME

  • Colorado
  • New York Rangers
  • Columbus
  • Pittsburgh
  • Montreal
  • Atlanta
  • Los Angeles

RATIONALE AND REASON

It is just a tough night to pick.  We took our stabs and will see what they bring us.  New Jersey was the weakest favorite at aroung 55% so Colorado seemed natural.  New Jersey may win but it will likely be by a goal. There could be quite a few road dogs working it towards victory or awfully close tonight.  The fact that Chicago has at least one sick player may influence some to take Columbus so get in there now.  It will be a fun night.

So what are your picks?  We’d like to know.

Editor’s Note: Friday Fantasy Night will be replaced with a weekend edition due to an excursion to The Rock tonight.  Much apologies.
