Tonight’s choice was obvious on the surface but there were actually a couple honorable mentions. Think about it, this guy had 5 points just in the first 28:20 of action. Just imagine if Pittsburgh had kept the gas pedal fully down throughout the entire down.
So let’s get down to this. Tonight’s fantasy player of the night is Evgeni Malkin. All Malkin did was get 2 goals, 3 assists, was a +2 with a PPG and game winner to boot. He was inches from a hat trick as well. It is scary to think how many more points Malkin could have got if he had more ice time in the third. Now let us do a little video.
Now lest we forget there were some very good nearly POTN worthy performances tonight. Jonas Hiller had 45 saves in a 3-0 win over the Boston Bruins in Boston. However, if not for Malkin, there was a night in Toronto that Tobias Enstrom will not soon forget. He had two goals and two assists in a 6-3 win that put Atlanta back in first place in the Southeast. The rise of Dustin Byfuglien can be placed in direct proportion to the growth of Enstrom. He was a top 10 defenseman points wise last year and now has improved the defensive aspect in his game so much that coaches do not hesitate to put him out in any situation.
Stay tuned for some more later today and now watch that Lunar Eclipse. Moon on!
