Twas The Night Before Christmas….

On Friday Night’s show, we will be reading some versions of Twas The Night Before Christmas live on the air.  One of the most true and funniest ones I have read was this one sent in by a loyal listener. A hearty thanks to Mitch Palin and we want readers and listeners to keep sending them in.  It would be nice to read several of these on the air this year.

Twas The Night Before Christmas (Devils Version)

It was the night before Xmas and all through the rink,
all the fans knew this team really really stinks
The sticks were all hung on the wall with care,
in hopes that goals will soon be there,
All the loyal Devils  fans were snug in their beds,
trying to get the 7-1 Atlanta loss out of their heads.
Momma in her Parise jersey me in my Stanley cut hat,
Had just settled down expecting more of this crap.
When out on the rink there arose such a clatter,
I sprung form my seat to see what was the matter,
Away to the locker room I flew like an errant pass.
Tore open the lockers and smelled more of this ass,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But  Johnny Mac and the coaches drinking Some beer,
With a little bald driver, so lively and full of goo ,
I knew in a moment it had to be Lou.
More rapid than losses his veterans they came, And he whistled, and
shouted and called them by name

Now Elias!,  now Marty! now, Zajac and Kovy!
On,Clarkie! On, Zubrus! on Langer and Rollie!
From the top of the standings! to the bottom
of the league we fall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And re- filled the roster, getting rid of all of these jerks.
Now  laying his middle finger aside of his nose,
Giving a nod, up the arena he swiftly arose.
He sprang to his sleigh, to his NEW team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like their season did tumble.
As all of us fans where left there to mumble.
But I heard Lou exclaim, as he drove out of sight,
John Mclean is fired, and to all a good-night!”

At least Devil fans can dream of a White Christmas, watch that not happen either.
