So they say that Marco Sturm is now a Los Angeles King for a conditional pick and now Helene Elliott has just told me the deal is off. Peter Chiarelli and Dean Lombardi did an “Italian Two Step” for the German to go cross country. Next thing everyone knows a guy who can light it up for 55 to 60 points finds himself on a team in a serious need of a jump start. The Kings have lost 7 of 8 and were shutout by their cross the freeway rivals, the Anaheim Ducks. But the deal has just fallen into the tank for unspecified reasons. Therefore no deal. Alas, at least for now, Sturm is still a Boston Bruin.
Marco Sturm was healthy in two of the three previous seasons but the year before last saw him only play in 19 games and he found a way to injure his knee, come back and do it again. Then he got hurt again. Is it excessively bad luck or is it something more? That is the question.
It is time to do a lesson in Marco Sturm math. Below is listed several equations based on points and one can play along to make their own equations.
- Sturm + Parise + Brodeur = Injury List + Tim Horton’s
- Kovalchuk + Langenbrunner = Fantasy Futility
- Florida Power Play + Devils Power Play = Decline It!
- Sturm + Practice In Boston + Julien = Awkward
- Smith + Eliis = 99 Goaltending Problems
- Hossa + Boynton = 2 car pile up
- Physical + Sturm = Failure
This is just the beginning. Tune in for Part 2 of Sturm Math tomorrow on this very same blog.
When he is healthy, he can crank out almost 3 points in every 4 games.
