When it comes to Halloween, there are few times in a year that it is okay to actually disguise an informative post with thoughts of candy and scares or tricks and treats. However, this is the perfect time on All Devils’ Night to enjoy a little bit more fun. After a simple night where we only made two picks and got them both right, we are now 90-23 on the year.
The reality of the first month of the NHL season is that it is just about over. Can you feel the anticipation for November already? Some sports bettors out there are clamoring for a new month because their picks have been so off the charts in a bad way. We look forward to it for a different reason. It really is an opportunity to show what we can do and what we can offer. There is no charging for picks here and no we will never charge for them. It is pointless.
Looking around for industry averages for hockey betting can be like finding a needle in a haystack. However a 60-65% number seems to be around the norm for more ATS betting. The tough thing is when you start out like a house of fire (around 70-75%) for most of the month, there really is only one place to go and that is down. The goal is to try and not drop down too much. Using our hockey knowledge, we intend to pass everything on to as many people as possible. There are no secrets to hide here…no once in a century super lock picks.
The numbers we tossed around last night were a lot of fun and we look forward to doing that at least once a week keeping season trends in perspective. Long range trends can be clouded up sometimes so there can only be a glancing look given to them. It really is what goes on in the season that can make or break you but again looking back every so often does not hurt. Do not forget to check out our podcast site for the latest NHL betting lines each day.
Now how was the picture going to tie into tonight’s picks? That one is real simple. Admittedly we are taking it a bit easy the next few nights so we can charge up for November. San Jose is rested and coming off an impressive home win over New Jersey on Wednesday while Anaheim comes off a demoralizing loss to the worst team in the NHL (NJ Devils) last night. These two teams hate each other like few rivalries in the NHL these days. Expect a nasty game full of lots of venom and scoring. The Sharks should pull this out and you may want to consider the over as well.
As for the other late night game in Los Angeles, the New Jersey Devils come off their third solid road performance of the season against the Anaheim Ducks, winning 2-1. However if you bet New Jersey, you still lost. Why? New Jersey was a rare road favorite. No one is sure why bookies would do that even though New Jersey has a 2-7-1 record but never take a gift horse where you know. Los Angeles is one of the best teams in the NHL and has been riding timely scoring with solid goaltending once again this year. Their +7 goal differential does not sound like much but they are 3-0 at home and covered all three times. With Anze Kopitar, Ryan Smyth, and Dustin Brown, the Kings have enough punch and depth (surprising young contributors as well) to take on a New Jersey team who played on eggshells last night to come out with a win in Anaheim.
What will the outcome be? Expect the Kings to take this one even if Martin Brodeur starts tonight. The Devils will need a few more weeks to a month to get back to full strength and the Kings are just too quick at home. New Jersey called up Brad Mills to replace an injured forward. It could be anyone from Tim Sestito to Travis Zajac for all we know. That kind of uncertain information makes New Jersey at + 1 1/2 a shaky pick and tips things to Los Angeles’ side.
Hopefully everyone has a good night of betting and Happy Halloween to all for its been a spooky betting month. May better times be ahead in November my betting friends.
