Today’s moment only happened eight years ago and yet it was good for a franchise first.  This guy would go on to score a few more goals for his team.

Joe Sakic became the first player to score 250 goals as a member of the Colorado Avalanche; the milestone came in a 4-1 win over the Kings in Los Angeles.

Patrick Roy set an NHL record for most wins by a goaltender, breaking Terry Sawchuk’s record of 447, as Colorado won 4-3 in overtime at Washington.
