Same Old Story for Bruins

It was a familiar scene for the Bruins who stayed close for forty minutes but managed to completely disappear for one period and lost the game in that 20 minute stretch. After controlling the first period the Bruins held a 1-0 lead going into the locker room. The second period saw a totally different team on the ice as the Hurricanes scored 4 times to seal the victory. The big story of the game was Ray Whitney scoring a hat trick in 1:47.Overall the game played out like many others Bruins fans have suffered though, the team looking listless and uninterested and giving far too many scoring opportunities in close against Tim Thomas. At this point in the season it looks like the Bruins will be playing out the string the last two months instead of racing for the playoffs.
-Marc Savard was given an unsportsmanlike after Rod Brindamour sealed the game with an empty netter. Savard, who was a player that had a reputation of being a poor character guy coming into Boston, seems to have taken the role of vocal leader on the ice. Savard is visually the most upset by losses.
-Brandon Bochenski scored both Boston goals and now has 3 goals in 2 Boston games. It would be great for team if Boston stole a diamond in the rough from the Blackhawks.
-At this point it starting to become a foregone conclusion that Brad Stuart will be dealt at or before the trade deadline. There is a good market for Stuart so hopefully Chiarelli can land some good assets.-In the third Carolina had a 3-1 break as Andrew Alberts lines up the puck carrier for a big hit at center ice and missed completely. Alberts play has dropped off dramatically after a prolonged period of strong play.
-Ray Whitneys in 1:47 shattered the franchise record of just over 8 minutes by Ronnie Francis of your Hartford Whalers (cue Brass Bonanza!!!)
