Strange Oddities….

Today we really only have one oddity but it is a doozy of sorts.  Tim Kennedy was waived yesterday is expected to be bought out.  Here is one not so odd thing…a video of his first goal and yes it was on Marty Brodeur.  Go figure!

So the odd part lies in the reality that Kennedy got awarded for a 26 point season with a million dollars.  Buffalo walked away from a million dollars essentially.  Now I know that there are players down the pike and everything but there is a way to do business and to me, this seems a bit dirty.  If you did not want the guy….just qualify him them buy him out.  I do not know but that seems to be the right thing to do.  Better yet, try and trade the guy somewhere but to do this just rubs me and quite a few hockey fans (nevermind Buffalo fans) the wrong way.

If Rick could do it, he would probably declare a nutpunch warning on Buffalo management.  The guy made only $635,000 and if Kennedy clears waivers, Buffalo cannot walk away from it either.  When you do this to a hometown player, you hurt the fans first and foremost.

Hey Darcy, I hope you are ready to file your unemployment papers because the fans are growing tired of your acts as a desperate man in Buffalo.  Maybe Mr. Kennedy will find a home and not be called Tyler Kennedy anymore either.  It makes you wonder what other strange things will happen in the next week.  To be fair, (thanks to James Mirtle), here is the GM’s explanation of this event.

This is almost as strange as Mike Modano signing but waiting till later in the week to do so.  We all knew this would happen and yet the wait continues.  Just sign already Mike, play on the third line and finish your career the way you want.  For strange oddities, I am out of here!
