Well Versus did it once again. For those who didn’t watch the Tuesday Night tilt between the Rangers and Isles….you missed about a 2 1/2 to nearly 3 minute glitch in their system where there was no hockey. If this ever happened on a major network…it would be fixed like that but I kept expecting hockey and well a couple minutes doesn’t seem like a lot but it happened right after the Rangers had just scored to make it 1-0….weird indeed!
What angered me more is that this is obviously not the first time. Isolated incidents are one thing but this is a bit of a pattern. I can remember all the way back to the first game ever on Versus….where they had no audio first and video then vice versa. I was waiting for them to blame it on solar flares but I don’t think they had any clue what was happening until it was too late. There have been other times where I went to turn the game on…and PBR was on….not something I necessarily want to see.
It seems Versus will be televising hockey in some form as the deal runs thru the 2010-2011 season….but they need to correct these glitches. I think the overall product of their telecasts has improved a bit over when it started but they still have much work to do and that shouldn’t be. A contract with ESPN2 seems awfully nice right about now…..doesn’t it?
