Morning Skate (6/7)

The Morning After:
Last night’s scores:
Blackhawks 7, Flyers 4
Predictions record: 1-0

My 3 stars from last night:
1. Dustin Byfuglien, CHI
(2 Goals, 2 Assists)
His insertion on the third line paid big dividends, as Buff was a one-man wrecking crew with four points, nine hits.
2. Kris Versteeg, CHI (1 Goal, 3 Assists)
Versteeg was also a two-way factor, collecting four points just like Byfuglien.
3. Patrick Kane, CHI (1 Goal, 1 Assist)
Kane’s two points helped the ‘Hawks pull away from Philly; he also generated numerous scoring chances.
Unsung hero of the night:
Jonathan Toews
… Even though he was a minus-1, Toews was a difference-maker. The team followed his lead early in the first period as the ‘Hawks buzzed around Philly’s net. Toews had a great two-way presence, assisted on Byfuglien’s power play, and won over 58% of his faceoffs.
‘RLD Game-Changing Performance’ of the night:
First 20 minutes for Chicago
… The first period was Blackhawks Hockey at its finest. It set the tone for the game (and maybe the rest of the series) as they blitzed Michael Leighton and company. Chicago held a 3-0 lead after one, and the shots were 13-7 in their favor.

Don’t forget about our radio show at 1:00 ET tomorrow, which will feature draft prospect Nick Bjugstad and agent Jay Grossman!
