Good old Harbor Island in San Diego….how I love it…the hotel, the restaurants, the sailing. Then just hop over the bridge and head to Pacific or Mission Beach for some wakeboarding. Talk about some awesome stuff. At any rate, it almost looks like a certainty that San Diego will be my home about June or July of next year. A nice place if you ask me.
An even better place is sitting at the Ice Cooler enjoying all the hockey. It has been kind of a divisional rivalry week of sorts and tonight is no exception. In the Atlantic, the Penguins travel to New Jersey to face the Devils and Philly goes Broadway to battle the New York Rangers. These matchups tend to bring out the intensity and I can’t wait to see what ensues. That and it doesn’t hurt that the rivals are all really a little too close for comfort.
In the Southeast, Washington heads to Carolina to face a very emotional Canes team. After the fallout with official, Brad Watson, the Canes have seem to taken an everyone is against us attitude. That should translate into an excellent game tonight and they will need it with Alexander Ovechkin coming to town. The other divisional game has Tampa Bay trying to end its road woes against Florida. Florida is young and skilled…Tampa is going to be in a world of trouble tonight and will need an unbelievable effort to get that winless road streak off their backs.
The Northwest features the Oil and Wild getting at it and the Flames streaking toward Colorado with first place in the division on their minds. The Avs are a bit of a streaky team this season…and with their goaltending situation now up in the air….who knows what will happen? I certainly don’t. Kiprusoff will be in net against more than likely Theodore (as he has seemed to have found his game again). The offenses are ready and the defenses are trembling…this is my Monday Ice Water Cooler Matchup Of The Night!
Of course, then there are the Sabres and Habs (I believe there may be some French commentating going on) and the Stars and Ducks…oh don’t worry people will have plenty to say about it…all on The NHL Arena.
Finally, the Hockey Hall Of Fame induction ceremonies are a mere week away. I’m gonna put my homer hat on and say hey, go check out the Stevens thread. It will fill up with enough memories to last a lifetime. I will have more on it as the week goes on but tonight is all about the hockey and hopefully the Devils hit .500 finally. It doesn’t seem like much but hey, it works for me. Enjoy the hockey everyone!
