Now, due to Atlanta’s three losses in four games Tampa Bay had pulled in all but six points away from the division lead. Ilya Kovalchuk mentioned that “We are still in first place and we need to get these games, Buffalo is six or eight points ahead of us. We beat them once, they beat us once its going to be a big game here”
Both teams at this point are struggling to stay up on top of their divisions, but with the losses they have faced both teams are having a hard time doing so. Tuesday, The Thrashers lost with a score of 5-2 yet again. That is a second time in a week that they lost with that kind of score, does that tell you anything? Losing to the Sabres couldn’t be the worst thing, but losing to the NHL’s worst team the Philadelphia Flyers is. In fact losing to them three times at home.
In my opinion the Thrashers still have a chance at staying number one in their division; they have had a phenomenal year so far and now they have come to a pit of a rut in the road. What a bad time to do so, but they have time to make up for it. They need to work really hard, have a great Defense and get more of those goals in. Kovalchuk has scored in almost every game the Thrashers have come to lose in the past couple weeks. I think he needs more help when it comes to scoring, more guys need to step up. In his last six games he has seven goals, not to bad. He moves withone on of Marian Hossa for the team lead. Kovalchuk has a total of 30 goals.
