– I just can’t get over how well the Ottawa Senators are playing so far this season.
I just need to push it in cuz this might be the only time we are on top of the league standings! (prob not actually):p
Other than that odd loss to the canes, the sens have proved they are the icing of the eastern conference by defeating every other competitor in this conference other than the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Its just the way the sens are playing right now- it is forcing me to say these kind of things. Every player on the sens have been at the top of there game- I just wish this was the playoffs right now.
Paddock has been great so far helping these players get to the top of their game. Look at Jason Spezza- he hasn’t scored a goal yet and is leading the league in points!
If I had to pick a few, the top players so far have been-
Jason Spezza
Andrei Meszaros
Martin Gerber
All these players have pitched in different ways- Gerber making the big saves ( did you see him on Saturday :O ) Spezza making multiple scoring chances, and Meszaros playing a consistent defensive game and bringing the puck out of the zone.
Even though the PP stats don’t look that great, the sens are still keeping me on the edge of my seat during PP time. Alfredsson is great at leading the puck up the ice and getting everyone set up positionally.
I do think one of the sens weaknesses is giving up the first goal, then playing consistently after that. It seems like whenever they score the first goal of the game, it opens the door to more opportunities and they don’t feel locked out.
When the canes played them last week, they scored the first goal and then there was no tomorrow, as the canes played better then the sens all night until late in the third.
