Every Ranger fan knows it was bad last night and it was downright ugly even after that late 3rd period goal. What resulted was a 2-1 loss to the Islanders that made a bad season already even worse.
Here are some memorable quotes from this morning’s papers:
Larry Brooks and his love affair continues with John Tortorella with this gem.
Now is the time for Tortorella to personally embrace the “Safe is Death,” philosophy he espoused in Tampa and have the nerve to tell Glen Sather, his boss, that the millions he spent on Wade Redden and Michal Rozsival would have been better invested with Bernie Madoff.
It’s time for the Rangers, for the front office, to do something drastic. Something tangible.
Jim Schmiedeberg from Blueshirt Banter drops some bombs here.
As someone said in our open game thread, you know the Rangers are playing bad when even Joe Micheletti criticizes them. Joe also said its time for the Rangers to “reassess playing time”.
Russ Cohen chipped in on The Program last night with the following.
Simply this team needs a complete major overhaul. Its an overhaul that at the top they are not capable of understanding or even how to start it.
So then there was Pauly D’s comments…..
As you may all know I’ve never been a big Torts fan,and I would like to say publicly I’m sorry to John for blaming him for the rangers woes. After seeing the Rangers in Tampa just get spanked and tonights game the light finally went on, it’s not Torts fault, can’t blame Sather either,This team has no heart,no will,no guts and are nothing but a sorry bunch of losers. What a pathetic effort is all i can say. once again this team never showed up like so many times before……..Gut this club from top to bottom and see ya in 5 years .
Lastly this one from NY Sports Jerk…this is good stuff.
The entire team should be forced to stand outside Madison Square Garden and have Rangers fans throw rocks at them for the first period, which was as bad of a performance as any in NHL history. Someday when my soul is burning for all eternity, the prince of darkness is going to include a tape of this game in the “Rangers torture” portion of my damnation, along with every John Druce goal from the 1990 playoffs and every shift Michal Rozsival has taken in the last year and a half.
I cannot believe the ugliness but after last night I am now not surprised in the least. There must be a huge blowup in the Rangers organization but that is something not very likely to happen anytime soon. Stay tough Ranger fans. At least the bottom is not too far away and that may get change at least.
