An Open Letter To Dish Network…

BallHype: hype it up!

Dear Dish Network:

My family has been a loyal Dish Network subscriber for the last 5+ years and really there have not been that many problems at all. The price is reasonable and honestly I had nary a complaint. That is until the last several weeks where I have gradually noticed channels being cut out like a crazy man with a Ginsu knife with bad intentions. At first some of these channels…I never really watched anyway. But when I noticed the Fine Living Network going bye bye then Setanta Sports…I started to take some interest.

It got worse last night when I noticed my scheduled Devils-Sabres game was not on at all. Now granted everyone knows the Devils record on Versus recently has been less than stellar. At first I thought this was a temporary hiccup until I went online and quickly realized that Dish Network had moved Versus from its Classic Silver 200 tier to its Classic Gold 250 tier. Versus would not be available on its Multi Sports package either.

Now I did call Dish Network and basically said well for just a little more I can upgrade but what is the point of getting most of these channels that I had already before you started cutting and rearranging like a jigsaw puzzle. I just want my Versus back and maybe a little something for the inconvenience. The best they could do was smile, nod, and offer me another package for a hair less of a rate. The reality is folks…you will not get compensated like Direct TV customers in most cases here because they just moved it up a tier and did not take it off completely.

Thankfully I got the multi sports package and with that I can get enough games to keep me happy without having to pay for Center Ice. Really I guess everyone kind of wins in a sense but at the end of the day it makes you wonder why cable and dish carriers have to play musical chairs like this in the first place. All it really does is drive an already stressed customer insane. I used to joke about this but I swear one day someone is going to go postal on a cable or satellite dish company…just a scary thought.

All I ask Dish Network is for a little more notice next time and a heads up. It would have been nice….and not at 8pm during the Devils game. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Chris Wassel
