KHL Salutes Top Players from Week 9
The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) recognizes the top goalie, defender, forward and rookie for the past week. The weekly selections are chosen by the KHL Statistics and Information Bureau and based upon both statistical results and overall performance.
Following a scheduled break for the Eurohockey Tour, the KHL had five game days, featuring 28 matches, last week.
Week 9 honorees are:
- Best goalkeeper: Edgar Masalskis (Dinamo Riga). The Dinamo net minder notched two road victories last week, registering a 94% save percentage.
- Best defender: Tomas Kloucek (Barys Astana). In two games, Kloucek scored a goal and an assist and registered a +/- rating of +6.
- Best forward: Sergei Mozyakin (Atlant Mytishchi). Mozyakin tallied six points last week (three goals, three assists) in three matches, as well as a +/- rating of +2.
- Best rookie: Roman Savchenko (Barys Astana). The 21-year-old defender averaged 17 minutes, 10 seconds of ice time in two games, scoring one goal and registering a +5 rating.
