We also wish that Blog Talk Radio was not sick last night. Unfortunately being at the mercy of podcasts….maintenance and errors do happen. We had a very nice little Hockey Jeopardy as more or less a test run. Aside from a few questions that went wrong…I have to say it went very well. Look for a new episode of Hockey Jeopardy in the near future. By the way Rick has retired as champion in this one as well….go figure.
As mentioned on the show…we wanted to congratulate the Carolina Hurricanes on breaking their losing streak. Yes they did blow a 4-1 lead but they did win in the shootout. To lose 14 times in a row and then win has to be at least somewhat relieving. However, their schedule does not get any easier and honestly the Canes dug themselves a hole that no one really thinks they can get out of at this point. Does Maurice get the axe? Who gets traded? These are questions that we will get the answers to in the coming months.
Did anyone happen to catch the Chicago comeback last night? Yes I know they were only down 3-1 but they were down two to the West leading San Jose Sharks and it did not look good. By the way….nice to see JR in Chicago Red. Chicago rallied, forced OT, then won it on a pretty passing play. What was the more impressive was THIS. Look about 35 seconds in. That 4-3 win was a big one for the Hawks while the Sharks still remain 10 over .500 already.
Now tonight of course features the Devils and Flyers as New Jersey tries to tie the Buffalo mark set in the 2006-07 season. What is that you may ask? Well the Sabres started off that season on an insane run that included 10 straight wins on the road. This game will not be easy as it is in Philadelphia and on Versus. The Devils’ record on Versus is well documented and they are a bit shorthanded but they do have a flare for history in Philadelphia. Let’s see what happens.
There are several other good games tonight. The Isles-Bruins game normally a snore fest may be a good one tonight as Boston really needs to score some goals and the Isles can score. Pittsburgh and Anaheim may be interesting just to see if there is a Giguere sighting as has been rumored all weekend. If you have Center Ice, then you are set….or you can go online and find your game either way.
At any rate, it is time to push onward into the day. A busy hockey night awaits well for Monday standards so keep your head up!!!
Sincerely,
Chris Wassel
