KHL Salutes Top Players from Week 8

The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) recognizes the top goalie, defender, forward and rookie for the past week. The weekly selections are chosen by the KHL Statistics and Information Bureau and based upon both statistical results and overall performance.

Week 8 honorees are:

  • Best goalkeeper: Andrei Mezin (Dinamo Minsk). Mezin backstopped wins in all three of Dinamo’s games last week, registering a 1.00 GAA and a save percentage of 96.3.
  • Best defender: Dmitri Kalinin (Salavat Yulaev Ufa). In three games, Kalinin scored two goals and chipped in three assists, to go along with a +/- rating of +7.
  • Best forward: Stanislav Chistov (Metallurg Magnitogorsk). The Metallurg striker had three goals and three assists last week while also posting a rating of +5.
  • Best rookie: Anatoly Nikontsev (Motorist Ekaterinburg). In two games last week, the 19-year-old forward netted two goals and posted a rating of +1, while averaging 11 minutes and 30 seconds of ice time per game.
